Enrique Lluch i Girbés (picture) is a Spanish physiotherapist with a special interest in chronic pain and modern neurocience applications for the treatment of pain. Enrique teaches physiotherapy and manual therapy at the University of Valencia (website-univ-Valencia-Enrique). Approximately one year ago, he contacted CHROPIVER for collaborative research. Since then, we have been in close contact with him to prepare our collaborative research in the field of chronic osteoarthritis pain. This work is inspired by the increasing evidence favoring a role for central sensitization (or hyperexcitability of the central nervous system) in osteoarthritis pain. Enrique has visited Brussels twice now, and recently he enrolled as a PhD candidate at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. His PhD on central sensitization and chronic osteoarthritis pain will be a joint PhD between the universities of Brussels and Valencia.
